Highlights IFFI 2010
 

23th November 2010

  1. Indian Panorama was inaugurated in INOX II. It was a packed auditorium and the opening was attended by a large number of Directors and Cast & Crew of Opening Films. The complete Cast and Crew of opening films were felicitated by Shri Dinesh Trivedi, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare who was there as he had come to watch the film.
  2. The Indian Panorama Feature and Non Feature Juries were present and they were also felicitated.
  3. There was a Press Conference addressed by the Producer of Opening Film “WEST IS WEST” Leslee Udwin and attended by lead actors. It was well attended.
  4. International Short Film Competition was inaugurated by Chief Secretary, Goa in the presence of Film Director Shri Madhur Bhandarkar.
  5. In the evening, Film Federation of India hosted a reception in the honor of delegates. During this reception Dada Saheb Phalke Awardee Dr. D.Ramanaidu was felicitated by Film Federation of India and South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
  6. This year the number of delegates registered has gone to 6940.
 

24th November 2010

  1. A Georgian Package was inaugurated by the Ambassador of Georgia in India Mr. Zurab Katchkatchishvili. Georgia is one of the focus country in IFFI 2010.
  2. Retrospective of Jan Jakub Kolski was presented by him. He is one of the most distinguished Polish Film Director and Cinematographer. He is a member of the European Film Academy. His retrospective became very popular in the Festival.He attended Q and A in every screening.
  3. Nana Patekar, Gulshan Grover, Dr. Mohan Agasse, Manisha Koirala and Pooja Shetty were given red carpet welcome.
  4. Pooja Shetty’s film “Tere bin laden” was screened. Pooja Shetty Deora and cast of the film was felicitated.
 

25th November 2010

  1. IFFI celebrated 75 years of Odiya Cinema. Minister of Information and PR, Government of Odisha Shri Prafulla Kumar Samal was the Chief Guest. The function was attended by noted film celebrities of Odisha and Chairman of Odisha Film Development Corporation Shri Munna Khan. Festival Director felicitated the Minister and other celebrities. The Opening Film was “Adi Mimansa” directed by Shri A.K.Bir. Shri Bir was present.
  2. The first screening of ‘Moner Manush’ took place. It was presented by the Director Shri Gautam Ghose. The film is also in International Competition Section.
  3. Another important film “Gangor” was presented in World Cinema by the Director Italo Spinelli. The Producer of the film and Indian Cast comprising Shri Adil Hussain and Shri Dibang were present.
  4. The premiere of Shri Subhash Ghai’s film “Nouka Dubi” was screened in Kala Academy and was very well attended.
  5. National Film Development Corporation hosted a dinner reception.
  6. Noted Film Director Fatih Akin’s film ‘Soul Kitchen’ was screened. Fatih Akin attended Q & A Session.
 

27th November 2010

  1. Mid Fest press conference was addressed by Festival Director where it was announced that “The Princess of Montpensier” (Directed by French Director Bertrand Tavernier) will be the Closing Film of IFFI 2010. Midfest film will be ‘Ghost Writer’ by Roman Polanski. The details of Closing Ceremony were also released. There was an interactive session with the Media on the progress of festival so far.
  2. Oscar winning sound designer Resul Pookutty had taken a Master Class on ‘Art of Sound in Movies’ which was anchored by eminent Director Shri Govind Nihlani. It was well attended by the audience/delegates. The event was widely acclaimed.
  3. Acclaimed Film Director Girish Kasarvalli has attended IFFI with his latest and National Award Winning Film ‘Kanasemba Kudureyaneri’.
 

28th November 2010

  1. Amol Palekar’s latest film ‘Dhoosar’ was premiered at IFFI. Amol Palekar addressed a Press Conference where Cast and Crew of his film were also present.
  2. Woody Allen’s latest film ‘You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger’ was screened. Frieda Pinto, who has acted in the film was felicitated by Director, DFF. The Screening was well attended. Frieda Pinto was given a red carpet welcome.
  3. Film Director, Cinematographer and Screenwriter Jan Jakub Kolski’s latest film ‘Weneecja’ was well received at IFFI, where it is being shown as part of an eight film retrospective. His films are getting good acclaim in the festival.
  4. Ist International Heritage Jazz Festival 2010 was inaugurated in Kala Academy.
  5. A master Class was taken by Jaime Chavarri in Kala Academy on ‘Relevance of Dance in Cinema’. He is a Spanish Director. In the evening, Flamenco dance was organized for Delegates, Media and Members of public.
  6. Dada Saheb Phalke Awardee Shri V.K.Murthy was felicitated and his film ‘Pyasa’ was presented as Masterstroke. Shri M.S.Sathyu entroduced Shri Murthy to the audience.
